t I want to thank Jamie for the great picture of the full moon. The word Chandini means moonlight in Hindi. I chose the name with some help of a special friend in India. Thanks Raj!
Our Journey with rabbits started in 2002 when Rhiannon (my daughter) decided she wanted a rabbit after seeing one at a 4H dog obedience class. We were invited to go to an ARBA show in Great falls so we decided to see what it was all about. Rhiannon fell in love with a broken black Holland Lop buck. We became rabbit owners that day. Rhiannon won the following year in 4H rabbit showmanship. We decided to expand our little rabbitry and drove to Washington to buy a few more Hollands. Came home with 9.…Oops. Time to build a barn.
Then I decided I wanted to have my own breed of rabbits. I saw some Netherland Dwarfs at a show and decided that is what I wanted. Did some
research and picked up my first pair of shaded ND’s at a show in Coeur D Alene, ID. By then we truly became a Mother/Daughter team with showing. I have since moved on with the varieties I raise in Netherlands. Rhiannon also went on to raise Thriantas and Cinnamons but now that she is married so we cut back to just our Netherlands. We are now raising, Self (black, blue, lilac and choc), Agouti (Chestnut, chinchilla, squirrel and opal), Tans (Otters & Martens) and AOV (brokens).
The rabbitry is now just mine. Rhiannon got married in August 2012 and has moved on with her life. I will continue on with her breeding project of otters and chestnuts. I get her advice on what she wants done. And I hope she will come visit from time to time to see how her bunnies are doing.
